Our Vision

As we look to the future of Clevedon Baptist Church we see a large, multi-congregational, all-age, contextually aware, disciple-making, Word and Spirit based, Baptist Church.

For more information see our Vision booklet.

Our Mission

Built into our vision is a desire to be participants in God’s mission. We understand this as being 8 fold:

8-modes-of-mission

Our Purpose

Our Purpose may be summarised as:

  • Living with a purpose
  • Loving Jesus and our neighbours
  • Belonging to a distinctive Christian community

2025 - The Year Ahead

2025-Theme-tile

Look Upwards - our relationship with God - walking together as whole life worshippers in the ways of God

Look Around - our relationships with God’s People - walking together as whole life disciples in the ways of covenant community
  • Church Weekend Away.

  • Explore moving from a static expression of Church Membership to a more dynamic, covenantal form of belonging and participating in our church, with the opportunity to annually renew our commitment to CBC.

  • Home groups - to develop alongside existing groups some new home groups focused around hospitality or shared interests (eg sport) to support discipleship of those new to faith or existing members who are not comfortable in more traditional style home groups.

  • Creating a culture of welcome.

  • Pastoral - sustaining our existing pastoral care and support through - Pastoral Care Team, Kintsugi for adults and youth, Cancer prayer support group, Parenting courses, Alpha marriage course.

  • Helping people with eating disorders - to set up and run a local Tastelife eating disorders community recovery group. Tastelife is an organisation founded by Christians that offers hope for those directly affected by eating disorders and help for their family and friends through the delivery of local 8-week Community Recovery Courses which involve teaching, discussion, stories of recovery and tools for life.
Looking Outwards - our relationships with others - walking together as whole life witnesses in the ways of missional expansion
  • Working with Evangelist Dai Woolridge with Riff Corner type evangelism with the aim of expanding our missional margins.

  • Destination Bethlehem.

  • Global Mission weekend to inform and inspire us into prayer and action (including getting to know our new BMS church partners in Nepal and our Albania Partnership).

  • Holiday at home evangelistic event for seniors.

  • Supporting refugees in Clevedon - to increase our support of women and girls in the Clevedon refugee house by:
    - developing a WhatsApp group to respond to individual’s needs, as identified by home volunteers.
    - providing home start packs to help equip their first kitchens once they move out of the house.
    - to get updates from those volunteering in the house and to pray for them.

  • Multi congregations seeking to make disciples.

  • Front Lines - encouraging whole life disciples in our 104 hours of sent and scattered mission.
CBC Special Focus in 2025
  • Mission and Ministry to Young Adults.

Investing in and equipping our Young Adults - empowering them: not just into leadership and mission, but in their own exploration of spirituality and discipleship. Releasing the next generation to dream a kingdom dream, and bringing them into active leadership roles, and being willing to be led by them. Creating a culture in which young adults can dream and start something new and giving young adults space to influence our programmes, strategy, communication, and mission initiatives.

Evangelical Alliance - 7 conversations your church needs to have to reach young adults using a suite of resources to help your church reach, engage and disciple 20s and 30s. Each conversation is connected to a room of a house, because these spaces help illustrate the journey you will go on with young adults.

At CBC we talk about our 104 hours. These are the hours spent away from church when we are not sleeping! These are the hours that we may spend at work, school, home and doing ‘useful activity’. We encourage, support and pray for us all as we live out our faith in these 104 hours.

Clevedon Baptist Church is a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the Evangelical Alliance.
